Cereals and grains
The chemical and microbiological tests on food are accredited by ACCREDIA according to the UNI EN 17025 standard. The analysis laboratory is also included in the regional list of laboratories authorized to perform controls with analysis chemical and microbiological on behalf of companies that produce and market food and beverages regulated by the EC Regulations for self-control n. 852/2004 and 853 / 2004.
CHEMICAL AND MICROBIOLOGICAL ANALYSIS ON FOOD
Food section carries out analyzes for the chemical-commodity characterization of various types of food including cereals, their derivatives and spices. In addition to the determinations relating to the parameters used in the commercial evaluation of foods, mycotoxin research can also be carried out. Mycotoxins are toxic substances for higher animals, produced by molds that develop particularly in corn and wheat. Their presence is connected to the fungal growth which in turn depends on humidity, temperature, the nature of the substrate, insect attacks, plant stress in the field, mechanical damage to grains. Once produced mycotoxins can persist for a long time after vegetative growth and the death of the fungus. Mycotoxins are able to produce acute toxic effects, mutagens, teratogens, immunodepressors. The main mycotoxins are: aflatoxins, ochratoxin A, fumonisins, deoxynivalenol and zearalenone. To date, the European Union has set maximum limits for aflatoxins in food for human and zootechnical use. For ochratoxin A, deoxynivalenol, zearalenone, fumonisins and aflatoxins, it has set maximum limits in food for humans. In this sector Catas Food is able to carry out the required analyzes, with chromatographic techniques to verify compliance with the norms.
