In 2012 Germany issued its own regulation on VOC emissions from building materials and, in particular, wood-based floorings. This regulation was subsequently challenged by the European Union which ruled that it could not be applied to products subject to CE marking, for which a harmonized EN standard already exists.
At present, prior approval by DiBt (German Federal Building Materials Institute) is no longer necessary for the export of wood flooring in Germany, but it is better to be on the lookout ...
