Catas has long been a laboratory qualified to carry out tests for the BIFMA Compliant® mark, the
register of furniture productsthat meet the safety and durability requirements set by the American BIFMA standards.
In particular, for the tests on seating these are part of a constantly developing offer: just recently it has been implemented with new BIFMA standards, which you can request to CATAS to obtain the relative conformity mark and insertion in the register.
Let's have a look at our updated offer. Whether for the office or for a public area and destination the USA, the CATAS tests on seating fully cover these areas, or rather, they cover the different "user sizes" as required by this market. Here's what they are:

| Office Chairs
| User weight up to 125 kg
|
ANSI/BIFMA X5.11:2015
| Large Occupant Office Chairs
| User weight up to 181 kg
|
ANSI/BIFMA X5.4:2020 | Public & Lounge Seating | User weight up to 125 kg |

|
ANSI/BIFMA X6.4:2021
| Occasional-Use Seating
| User weight up to 125 kg |
The main news.
First of all, it is the ANSI / BIFMA X5.1 update, but without making substantial changes, which is why you will find it cited with both years of publication.
A “new entry” also stands out: in fact, the standard for seats for use in public areas intended for large occupant has just been published.
CATAS is already fully operational for its execution. Just contact us to evaluate the applicability also on your products!
