New versions of the reference standards for
tables for domestic and non-domestic use were published at the end of 2023.
In particular, the new
EN 12521 was published at the end of November, replacing EN 12521:2015, a standard that defines the safety, strength, durability and stability requirements for tables
for domestic use.
While in December 2023, the new
EN 15372 was published to replace EN 15372:2016, a standard defining the safety, strength, durability and stability requirements for tables for non-domestic use.
In both new methods and references have been added for the evaluation of safety requirements for the assessment of entrapment and crushing of fingers when using tables.
Furthermore, for tables for domestic use, the tests are also applicable to those with the top not fixed to the structure (previously they were excluded), with the exception of trestle tables.
And for those for non-domestic use, the tests are not applicable to tables for professional laboratory use and those with the top not fixed to the structure (previously they were not excluded).
