Are there any legal limits in Italy for the materials used in the wood and furniture sector since formaldehyde has been classified as carcinogenic?
With regard to the wood and furniture industry the consumer protection from formaldehyde emissions is regulated in Italy by the Ministerial Decree of 10 October 2008. The Decree bans the placing on the market of wood based products with a formaldehyde emission above 0.1 ppm (0.124 mg/m3). The wood-based materials complying with this requirement shall conform to the class "E1".
