What the UBA – Banz AT 26/11/2018 B2 German law requires?

Starting from 1 January 2020, German law requires that wood-based panels and products exported to Germany must comply with a formaldehyde emission limit of 0,1 ppm obtained with the EN 16516 test method.
The reference method EN 16516 when compared with the current test method EN 717-1, the European method for calculating formaldehyde emissions, provides for a lower air exchange and more samples.
The method described by the EN 717-1 standard can still be used provided that in this case the emission value is multiplied by 2. In the practicle, the emission requirement required to comply with the German regulation is halved.
